The State of California and the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) requires teens between the ages of 15½ and 17½ to complete a state approved 30 hour California drivers ed course in order to apply for their provisional drivers license. Virtual Drive offers a state approved course that can be taken online and upon completion, the student is issued an OL-237 Certificate of Completion that must be presented to your local DMV office in order to apply for a provisional instructional permit.

Students must also complete six hours of behind-the-wheel training with a local certified instructor of their choice. Once the student has completed the online course, the six hours of driver training (locally), held their instructional permit for at least six months and are at least 16 years of age, the student can apply for their California provisional drivers license.
